With a total of 6 Pro-AM rounds and 6 TXSL rounds, Lone Star Drift has just about reached that halfway point where the points race is starting to get a lot more urgent. If that wasn’t dramatic enough, Aaron Losey exercises blatant irresponsibility sweetens the honey pot by giving children dangerous weapons adding to the round’s prize pool two ridiculously cool custom swords as trophies. If that doesn’t get tires smoking then drifters are more mature than I thought.

Kickin’ It at Harris Hill – A Snippet
As you know, the other weekend Matt Powers came by Mineral Wells, TX to join in on all the drift fun at Lone Star Drift. Well, while he was in town, Aaron Losey worked with Harris Hill Raceway to see if we could get a play day going for him and a couple of LoneStarDrift’s top drivers.
I volunteered to help grab some video footage for a project that Aaron was working on and also happened to take a few snaps in between.
2015 Lonestar Drift – Round 2
Sometimes when I hear people talk about Hawaiii they say it’s a nice place to visit, but not a place they can see themselves living. You know, because all that nature, perfect weather, amazing food and gorgeous island girls gets hella old real fast, right? (At this point all my friends on Guam will roll their eyes at me in disbelief). No, I don’t subscribe to that opinion. For me, the place that I love to visit but would hate to live is Mineral Wells, Texas.
There isn’t much out there. It’s got some tumbleweeds, a lotta farms, maybe a Walmart and a Chilli’s. But you know what? If it wasn’t a 5 hour drive from Houston, it’d be my favorite Lone Star Drift stop. Despite all the unimpressive first impressions, it does have an airport! And the best part about this airport is that it has a nice spot set aside where car guys get to do things that skate the boundary of stupid and awesome. And no one is around to complain. (Looking at you, WALMART.) Mineral Wells = +1.
Anime Matsuri 2015
Spring is in the air and that means one thing: swollen faces and stuffed up noses from being inadvertently trapped in a massive orgy with all the trees in the gulf coast.
And Anime Matsuri!
2015 Houston Japan Festival
Confession time! I’ve never been to the Houston Japan Festival before! To some that might not be a big deal, but I moved to the United States in 1995 and this year marks Japan Fest’s 22nd anniversary. This means that the Houston Japan Festival has literally been in town longer than I have. Yeah, much slacking on my part.
Rice Bowl x Anime Matsuri Weekend
It has been a real fun few weekends! I’m hella joyed to officially welcome Hai to our little team of Hipster nerds after CJ and I caught up with him at Anime Matsuri. He’ll be our dude out in Austin sharing whatever fun he gets into over there, and hopefully he’ll drop into to town to visit once in a while. Hai and I talked a little bit about StrangeRhythms and its audience, and I briefly outlined that our content direction is the desire to share things we love through photography. In a few words, passions over everything, photos before anything; have camera, will trespass. We’re just nerds that want to do media stuff! That in mind, our actual coverage is a strange ensemble of subjects. Some days we post fashion things, other days it’s motorsports and occasionally, it could be anime. You’d think these hobbies would all be mutually exclusive, but sometimes they come together as an orchestra and produce a beautiful symphony.
